A flight bound for Los Angeles has made a successful emergency landing in Sydney only hours after taking off.
United flight 840 departed just before 3pm (AEDT) but blew one of its tyres on takeoff.
For two hours it dumped its fuel off the coast of Sydney and just before 5pm it approached the runway for an emergency landing.
It successfully landed and there are no reports of injuries to those on board.
The Boeing 747 was slowly towed back to the terminal, accompanied by a convoy of maintenance vehicles and several workers walking alongside.
