Pretoria Child Screams Away Hijackers

Five-year-old Annamarie van Greunen faced a harrowing experience, when hijackers forced her aunt out of their car and sped off with her. But according to a Beeld report on Wednesday, the girl screamed so loud the hijackers abandoned the vehicle and made off with some possessions, leaving little Annamarie behind.

On Sunday afternoon, an armed man and two accomplices forced her aunt out of the vehicle in Danville, Pretoria.

According to the report, Annamarie asked one of the hijackers if he would take her home if she behaved. When he refused, she started screaming and did not stop till the hijackers stopped the car and ran away.

Annamarie jumped out of the car and was picked up by a member of the community policing forum who was aware of the hijacking.
