Oscar was found guilty of manslaughter but his bail has been extended till his sentencing which will take place October 13. He will be staying with his family for the time being. The punishment for culpable homicide can be as little as 5 years and as long as 15 years.
Judge Masipa told Oscar that she felt he could have made an alarm or called out when he was faced with the possibility of an intruder in his house, but he choose to shoot first and question later.
According to her a reasonable person with similar disabilities would have called out or made some attempt to find out who was behind the door instead of just shooting.
Reeva's father was anxious to find out what the judge would decide and leaned forward while her mother sat emotionless next to him.
