Woman asks why the government tells deer to cross roadways

(Scroll down for video) A woman went on a rant after not understanding why the government is putting up deer crossing signs that tell the deer to cross busy roadways.

The listeners of a radio station in North Dakota, laughed a lot when the female caller complained indignantly that the government is placing deer crossing signs in high traffic areas.

The caller, who only identified herself as Donna, did not seem to understand that these signs are not for the deer to be told where they can cross, but for drivers to be alert to areas rampant with forest creatures.

"I've even seen the signs on the interstate," Donna told the radio station. "Why are we encouraging deer crossing the interstate?"

But her questioning did not end there.

"I think it's very irresponsible of us to make these deer crossings in an area where these deer are just as likely to be hit by traffic," she said. "Don’t you agree?"

Motorists had trouble taking the program seriously, realizing how Donna was acting goofy.

"The government can lead the deer population anywhere they want," she added. "All you have to do is move the deer crossing sign."

Audio of the woman's diatribe was uploaded to YouTube, and has been viewed over 3.5 million times.

The caller even earned a nickname: Donna the deer lady.

In a follow-up call with the radio station uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, Donna thanked the hosts of the station for being sympathetic and said she was "incredibly stupid" after realizing her mistake.

"I mean, honestly, in my defense, I had no idea these signs were for us humans," she said. "I've never thought about it enough to realize that was kind of ridiculous."
