Photobomb Behind Murder of Young Graduate
A young woman, Vanessa Zavala, from Southern California faces a murder charge after allegedly beating a woman outside of a club in Santa Ana. A group of five people attacked Annie Pham outside of the Crosby Bar and Nightclub on Saturday. The group beat the woman to death due to an accidental photobombduring a group picture.
A second woman was arrested for the beating of Kim Pham, and was identified from a cell phone video. The police reviewed the video of thebeating, and were able to determine identities of some of the assailants. Two to three females knocked Pham to the ground and began kicking and hitting her. They fled the scene after the beatingand Zavala was arrested Monday.
Zavala faced a judge on Wednesday, and pleaded not guilty to the photobomb beating. Zavala has a five year old son, and her attorney says she is horrified about the violence that occurred that night.
Police are still looking for other suspects in the beatingof Pham, and a $10,000 reward is offered for the two women and two men that are looking for. Santa Ana police say the suspects are Hispanic and aged 20 to 25 years old.
Pham was a recent graduate from Chapman University, and planned to use her psychology degree to help others. Her upbeat personality and big heart will be remembered by her family and friends forever. Pham was only 23 years old at the time of her death bybeating.
